Dear Mrs. Smith-Willis,

Thank you for traveling with me to Seattle. It was great to spend time with you. I love your blog and reading all the postings of your students. I know they missed you and will be so happy to see you tomorrow. Please tell them I said THANKS for sharing their teacher.

Have a great week,

Love,

Dr. Artis

Welcome Back, Melissa!!

Dear Melissa,

Welcome home! I missed you and I can't wait to give you a hug!I am back from Seattle. I got home last night at about 11pm, so I am answering you from NJ this morning!

We had a terrific time and learned lots of new things. I saw lots of teachers of color and watched a beautiful Indian girl in the 11th grade doing a traditional Indian dance. She is a student at the Seattle Girls School. I will post pictures of her tomorrow. You will love it!

I am so glad you got to see your family in India. It must have been nice to see everyone. It is strange to have to go all the way to India to see your cousins from America! I felt the same way in Seattle! I saw lots of old friends from NYC that I have not seen in a long time! They are right across the river, and I had to go all they way out to Seattle to finally catch up with them! I saw friends I went to graduate school with and made lots of new friends too!

I will be back at school on Monday and I brought some little goodies for everyone in our class. Enjoy the rest of your weekend and I'll see you tomorrow!
Love,
Ms. SW

Hi!

Dear Ms. Smith-Willis,

Hi! How are you doing? Are you back yet? Did you have fun at the conference in Seattle? We missed you, even though we had fun with Ms. Suma.

I got back from India on Tuesday. I got to see my grandmother and lots of other people in my family. I thought it was funny that I saw some of my aunts and uncles in India who live in America. I also ate custard apple and drank coconut water every day. I had fun on Thanksgiving. Did you? On the way back, I stopped in London and saw my baby cousin. She's cute.

See you soon!

Love,
Melissa

Welcome Back

Dear Ms. Smith-Willis,

I hope you have a safe ride back. We missed you in school. Mrs. Suma was nice and we were very good. We can't wait for you to come back to school.

Love, Alexia

A VERY busy day 2!

Dear Class 1-SW,

Today was another busy day that began with a breakfast speaker. Then we went to more workshops which were really great! We got into groups called affinity groups where I was in a room with only African American teachers. I was in a big ballroom with over 400 brown teachers all talking about different ways to make our schools better.

After that, we went to lunch and we had a big break. That's when we went to the Seattle monorail and went to the Seattle Center where the Space Needle is. It was a short ride, and very fun. We have posted some pictures on the side so you can see the monorail and the space needle. It was 250 feet up and we could see all the way to the mountains. At the top of the space needle there are some letters on the ground. The space needle is a giant compass rose, so you can tell what direction you are looking in. It was very cool!

Then we went to the aquarium. It was a small aquarium compared to what I am used to, but they had lots of animals that are indiginous to the pacific coast. We saw lots of sea otters and fur seals. They are very cute and they are terrific swimmers. There were also lots of great coral reef fish in the aquarium. My favorites were some things I had never seen before, like the pinecone fish and the potbellied sea horse. We'll post those pictures on the blog too!

Then we went back for more workshops and on the way, Mrs. Euwer found the famous Pike's Market where they have a great flower store. They had the most beautiful flowers and I loved the Kale plants. We didn't have too much time for pictures, but we took a quickie of Mrs. Euwer at the shop before we had to rush back to go to the workshops.

This evening we had a dinner speaker who was really terrific. His name was Charles Olgetree. Now, I am back at my hotel room, getting ready to go to bed. But, first I need to pack up as much as I can because the conference is over tomorrow at 12:30 and we have to leave for the airport at 11am.

I'll be back on Monday morning! Hopefully it won't be as cold at home! See you soon!
Love,
Ms. SW

Thanks, Michael!

Hi Michael!

I have had a terrific time! Mrs. Euwer and I are good and tired! We have worked really hard out here, and have learned lots of new things.

We are posting some fun pictures on the blog really soon. Look for them on the side of the blog. We went to the space needle, the aquarium, and to Pike's Market. We didn't have time to do anything else!

We are traveling home tomorrow so I am packing up and getting everything ready to go. We leave here at 11am Seattle time and 2 pm NJ time.

I can't wait to see everyone on Monday! Happy weekend!
Love,
Ms. SW

Hello to Clifton!

Hi Clifton!!

I was glad to get your blog. All is well out here. Yesterday was not too cold and today it is very cold. We are leaving tomorrow at about 11am to come home, but it will really be 2pm NJ time.

There is no snow in the city, but they tell us there is lots of snow in the suburbs. We have been to lots of meetings and we have had a great time. I have seen lots of terrific things and lots of old friends.

I miss you and I can't wait to see everyone on Monday!
Love,
Ms. SW
Hi Ms.Smith Willis,
Hope you have a good time in Seattle. And today I went
to the dentist and my top teeth are going to be Big. And in seattle
is it hot or cold? And merry Christmas good by at 10:05 pm.

love clifton,
Dear Mrs. Smith-Willis,
I hope you are having a great time and can get out to see some of the sights. We all miss you here, but we look forward to hearing all about your trip. I have been having some trouble posting a blog response on Mrs. Euwer's blog, so please tell her I am trying. I hope she is having a great time in beautiful Seattle.

I looks like your students and family are really joining in on the blog. I see Lloyd each morning at the front door and am getting very spoiled. I will miss his big smile and handshake when you return to driving him to school. I looks like the men in your family are surviving quite well!

Enjoy the rest of your trip, but I am afraid you and Mrs. Euwer will need a few days to recover and get back to a normal body time clock.

See you soon,
Mr. Corvino

A friendly Hello from 1-O

Hello from 1-O! Glad to hear you are having a good time. Today is another balmy 70 degree day! In comes the chilly weather tomorrow. We are going to get all sugared up today here to save the rain forest. Lots of yummies to be had. Your class misses you, we all miss you, but are glad you are having a good time. Keep us posted and tell Mrs. Euw, Euw we say hello. Maybe I will even take a moment to "blog" her. Safe journey back tomorrow. Hope you don't have to stop in Chicago. Big storm traveling through there today! Take care.

"Mrs. O always ready to go" (where I am ready to go to I am not sure:)

Message to Jamie Z

Hi Jamie,

There is not enough snow to make a snowman. In the city where we are, there is NO snow at all. I guess it's all out in the suburbs by the schools, because everyone had a snowday! Some school choruses were supposed to sing for us today, but they all had a snow day, so only their school music teacher came. She sang us a song that I am going to have Mrs. Finn teach you all. It's called Lift E'vry Voice & Sing. My class learned it last year.

I know 4 of the girls from your sister's school. I taught 3 of them when they were in second grade. Remember, I used to teach at Kent Place. I saw them tonight when we went to pick up the Pingry students. I know Kristina, Kesi, Zayba and Brooke. They were having a good time too, but they were also really tired, like us!

Okay, no penguinos yet. Will try again tomorrow. See you soon!
Love,
MS. SW
