An exciting first day!

Dear 1 SW,

Today was a VERY busy day and we are just getting back to our rooms. It's 9:23 Seattle time and 12:23 NJ time! Boy and I tired!

We started the day off with an opening meeting. They had Japanese drum players, a Native American family doing traditional dances and then a wonderful Native American speaker. After the speaker, there were some African dancers and then we went to some workshops until lunch time.

After lunch we went to more classes and workshops and then went back to hear another speaker. Before that speaker there was an Indian girl who is in the 11th grade who did a dance from India for us, followed by some girls who did traditional dances from Cambodia and then some American girls who did a hip hop play/dance for us. It was very, very good and we really enjoyed it all.

I have not gone to the aquarium yet, or the big market. I am going to try and get there tomorrow. We have so much to do and so little time!!! I wrote all of your postcards today and will put them in the mail in the morning. You should get them on Saturday or Monday!

Mrs. Euwer and I are seeing lots of giant Nutcracker statues around town. They are all over the city and they have different designs on them. We will take a few pictures of them so you can see them. In the meantime, I took a picture of my hotel room and the backpack they have given us filled with goodies.

More news tomorrow. No penguinos yet!!! I'm on the look out though...
Nighty, night!

Dear Mrs. Smith-Willis:
It sounds like you are having a good time in Seattle. Have you seen anything cool yet? Do you think it's going to snow again? Will you get a snow day? I have been doing lots and lots of homework since you have been away. Have you found any good lotions yet? And teas? Better go do some more homework. Love, Jack
Dear Ms. Smith-Willis:

I hope you had a good day today. I really liked the picture of the gingerbread hotel. I think I could (with mom's help) make a Pingry gingerbread school. Have you been to the aquarium yet? Are there alot of different animals there? Have a good night!

Love,
Michael
Dear Mom,
I miss you. How are you doing? Do you know where my blog to Mrs.Euwer is? Only 2 more days until you come home. Have you decided what my gift is? I am so excited about it. I love you.
Love,
Lloyd

How was your first day of the conference?

Hi Ms Smith-Willis

How was the conference today? Did you meet a lot of new people? How many people go to a conference? Is it still snowing out? Is there a lot of ice on the road? Have you seen any penguins yet at the museum?

Have a nice day and a safe trip home.....

Love

George

Hi from Jamie

Hi Ms. Smith-Willis,

Thank you for your reply. Are you going to make a snowman? My sister has three friends from her school at the conference also. Maybe you will meet them. I hope that you see a penguin!

Love Jamie
Dear Ms. Smith-Willis,

My tooth is getting really loose.
Did you get to the aquarium yet?
See you soon,
Clyde

Happy Thursday 1 SW!

Dear 1 SW,

All is well here and I hope you are having a good day! Mrs. Euwer and I have been up early this morning getting our blogs ready for the day! Check out our pictures on the side!

The conference begins this morning with a speaker, and opening ceremony and then some classes. We have LOTS to do and we are looking forward to working hard! I am also looking forward to seeing lots of my old teacher friends from when I taught in Manhattan!

Be sure to Blog me when you get home! I'll send more messages and pictures later tonight when we get back to our room. Remember there is a 3 hour time difference, so it may be late when I answer your questions. You can always check in the morning!

I'm on the look out for penguinos out here!!! I'll post a picture if I find any!
Love,
Ms. SW
Hi Heather:

Glad you had a wonderful flight to cold Seattle. I hope the kids were at the airport when you went inside the airport. If you have time just give Uncle Lenny a call-I know he will appreciate it.

All is well here and I leave today for Maryland. I will see you on Tuesday or Wednesday when I return. Enjoy your self and if there are materials you think would be helpful to my work purchase them for me and I will reimburse you.

We love you.

Dad

Hi Mr. Corvino!

Hi Mr. Corvino,

Thanks for logging on! You have officially made it to the BLOG world! We are having a nice time even though we get cranky and sleepy at about 5pm Seattle time. We have not gotten used to the time change, which is why I am up at 4:58am checking blog messages!

I watched the Green Bay/ Seattle game too and saw the snow. I should have turned back then...The schools are all closed here today because they had snow last night. There is hardly any on the ground by our standards, so we can't figure out what all the fuss is about. But, I guess they know what they are doing...

Today is the first big day and I am looking forward to going to a workshop called The Whole Educator. It's about how we address hiring people of color, retaining them, designing facutly meetings, and encourging diversity at the adult level when people are uncomfortable and unwilling. It should be interesting, to say the least. Then I am going to one called Starting Conversations That Matter in the Classroom.
Mrs. Euwer and I are splitting up because there are so many great workshops to go to. She is going to one on being a non person of color ally. It's really an incredible convention. You would love it. Nextyear it's in Boston and Pingry should send a bunch of teachers. I'll stay home, I promise...One of these days I'm going to get myself together to come to this convention and present something... hold onto your hat!

I will tell Mrs. Euwer you said hello. Her head is spinning, but she is really enjoying it. We are working hard trying to keep up with our blogs! You can acces her blog from mine. Be sure you blog onto the NEW blog and not the old one. It will say Mrs. SW Goes to Seattle at the top. Then on the side you can see a link to Mrs. E's blog. Her class can help you log on.

See you soon!
